Our client is looking for a Staff Nurse to join their children’s residential service based on the outskirts of Sligo in a small village. The service consists of 3 services users and the role is a mixture of 12 hours shifts.
The role is open to all nursing disciplines on a Full time, Part time or Relief basis. They have something for everyone.
The role of a staff nurse for intellectual disability typically involves:
- Assessing the health needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities, including conducting physical exams, taking medical histories, and monitoring symptoms.
- Developing care plans that address the unique needs of each individual, including medical treatments, medications, and specialized therapies.
- Administering medications, treatments, and therapies as prescribed by a physician or other healthcare provider.
- Providing basic nursing care, such as taking vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, and providing emotional support.
- Educating individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families on self-care, healthy habits, and managing their conditions.
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, therapists, and social workers, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
